The project was awarded within the framework of the long-term electricity auctions of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), with the aim of supplying renewable energy to the national electricity system at highly competitive prices. From conception to start-up, Solarfy led every stage of development with a comprehensive and long-term vision.

Overview of the Project

The solar plant is located in Tula, Hidalgo, on a plot of more than 300 hectares, and has more than 370,000 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules.

Connected to the national system through a 230 kV substation, the facility has the capacity to generate 350 GWh annually, enough to supply more than 180,000 homes.

Specification Detail
Installed capacity 128 MWp
Location Hidalgo, Mexico
Type of project Utility-scale photovoltaic solar plant
Energy Buyer (offtaker) Federal Electricity Commission (CFE)
Estimated annual production 350,000 MWh
Avoided emissions 200,000 tons of CO₂ per year
Year of commissioning 2019

The Challenge

The development of the project involved significant technical, logistical and regulatory challenges.

The site presented complex terrain conditions, high exposure to dust and a schedule adjusted by the delivery deadlines established by the CFE auction.

In addition, the post-pandemic context required efficient management of the international supply chain to ensure the timely availability of critical equipment.

Despite this, our team managed to maintain the quality, deadlines and profitability of the project thanks to strategic planning and disciplined execution.

Our Solution

As integral developers, we assume full responsibility for the life cycle of the project: from the identification of the land and environmental permits, to the financing, engineering, construction and operation.

We implemented a solution with single-axis solar trackers, optimized to maximize solar collection and reduce levelized energy costs (LCOE).

During the construction phase, more than 40% of the workforce was local, generating more than 500 direct and indirect jobs and strengthening the region’s economy.

Environmental and Economic Impact

The project generates clean energy equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 180,000 Mexican homes, avoiding the emission of 200,000 tons of CO₂ each year.

With this, we contribute directly to the fulfillment of Mexico’s commitments under the Paris Agreement and to the national energy transition objectives.

Key Achievements

  • Development, engineering and construction 100% led by Solarfy
  • Delivery on time and on budget, under challenging logistical conditions
  • Higher than estimated performance, thanks to optimized design and advanced monitoring
  • Zero work incidents with lost time during the execution
  • Long-term operation and maintenance contract signed with the CFE
  • Environmental certification in accordance with national and international standards
